Clean sweep podium!

Hot on the heels of Otley GP, Ikley also hosted their town centre races on Friday July 23rd. Just a stone's throw away from Otley, the Ilkley GP hosted their Tour de France legacy races in the evening sun as plenty of local and national racers visited to test their legs.

We sent Luis to catch the best of the action as our partner teams Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling and Canyon DHB SunGod were both racing!

A very different course to Otley, it includes a stiff and sharp climb which is followed by a sweeping descent and fast finish.

We had plenty of friends and customers racing throughout the evening in all categories, but the anticipated event was the elite race, due to the short series and title being on the line.

After a frenetic start, it was Canyon DHB SunGod that dominated the race, with a break of 11 taking shape after a few laps and proving difficult to beat. 6 riders from the team were present in the break, with nobody from Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling managing to infiltrate.

After a furious pace, it was clear the winner was going to come from this group, and they took it in turns between them to try the attacks until eventually, Reece Wood managed to make it stick and went solo to the line with the remaining 5 laps.

Jake Scott and Thomas Mein rounded out the podium, with Reece Wood also taking the overall title (on count-back ahead of Rob Scott) having amassed the most points between both Otley and Ilkley GP races.
